Buoy Boy

It's not that uncommon to be fond of the sea,
But there was a girl and I'm sure you'll agree,
She was not like all the other girls - not quite the same,
Her dreams a little different - not so mundane.

No two point four children,
No man and a dog,
No shining white knights,
No princes and frogs.

To her nothing could be better,
No nothing could be finer,
Than to be married to RMS Lusitania,
Trans Atlantic Liner.

After four years of marriage,
Certain things had changed,
Not entirely indifferent but still just as strange.
The Lusitania had been fitted with a new aluminium hull,
And gained the attention of a blackened sea gull,
Why the sea gull was black no-one could rightly know,
Though an observer once speculated, it was a rather confused crow.
And while the ship was seen drinking from the docks fuel pump,
The girl was seen nursing an oddly shaped bump.

She was rushed to the hospital to solve the mystery of her girth,
It appears she was pregnant and about to give birth,
The boy was bulbous, chubby and round,
As good as gold and didn't make a sound.

The Lusitania however, was not so happy,
Afraid it wasn't ready for babies and nappies,
Without word,
Without warning,
Pulled up anchor and set sail in the morning.

The boy wanted his Dad,
And silently yearned,
Waiting in the harbour,
For when his father would return.
